This year we are honoring Marie Brooks, who has trained hundreds of children and taken them to the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia to perform as well as learn the dances of those regions. She founded the Marie Brooks Caribbean Dance Theatre and the Restoration Dance Company. We are also honoring Arlene Smith, the original lead singer of the Chantels, considered by many to be the best and most successful female group. Arlene wrote and arranged most of the group's material. The Chantels had many top hits including "Maybe", "He's Gone", and "I Love You So" and the group continues to perform. This event will also feature some of our students and many jazz luminaries participating in a jazz jamboree which has become one of the traditions of the Gala. Please plan to join us!
